I'm back with a bagpipe recommendation! 20 year old piper Brìghde Chaimbeul's debut album The Reeling contains a collection on Scottish folk tunes (and some Bulgarian ones, apparently?) that sound grand yet intimate, and as modern as traditional bagpipe can sound.

In the category "underrated stuff from 2016", the record Jet Plane and Oxbow by Shearwater. An album that starts out with an electronic post-punk sound and gradually grows more and more acoustic as it continues, with very Bowie-esque vocals.

If you're keeping up with music, you probably don't need me to tell you this, but don't sleep on Better Oblivion Community Center! Wonderful indie folk collaboration between veteran Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes and relative newcomer Phoebe Bridgers. The best part on this record are definitely the harmonies between the two!

Abandonnée/Maléja: a wonderfully dark and hypnotic bagpipe/hurdy-gurdy drone album that serves as a great soundtrack for all your void-staring needs. lesdisquesbongojoe.bandcamp.co
